Old Pulteney marks its 200th anniversary in 2026 with its oldest official release ever: fifty years of maturation in American oak, followed by secondary finishing in European oak. This is whisky shaped by five decades and the maritime character of Wick, a fishing port on Scotland's far north coast.
The nose reveals layers that only time can build: saline, briny notes interwoven with plum jam, green apple, silky vanilla, toasted bread, and leather. The palate opens dry and lightly briny, layered with cask char, toffee apple, cardamom, clove, and sweet tobacco. The finish is long, beginning austere before shifting into a surprisingly sweet wave of vanilla.
Limited to just 200 bottles worldwide, each arrives in a hand-blown crystal decanter by Glencairn Crystal, adorned with wave motifs and presented in a driftwood-inspired wooden case. This is a whisky for collectors who understand that half a century of patience demands its own reward.
