The Macallan Romantica Collection: A Tribute to Whisky Legend

The Macallan unveils the Romantica Collection, an exclusive 40-year-old single malt crafted as a tribute to the iconic The Macallan 1926. This special release marks exactly 100 years since the legendary cask number 263 was filled. The collection comprises three distinct editions, each limited to just 86 bottles, featuring bespoke artwork from three world-renowned artists including Sir Peter Blake.

Matured in sherry-seasoned European oak, the whisky was filled in 1986 and spent 40 years slumbering in The Macallan's Speyside warehouses. The spirit displays a striking character with subtle smokiness—an uncommon style for The Macallan. Sir Peter Blake's label for 'The Music Room' features a collage inspired by Easter Elchies House and the sense of community at the distillery.

On the nose, expect citrus, caramel, toffee, and red berries. The palate reveals caramel, toffee, smoky notes, and liquorice, with a long finish of dried fruits, dried spices, leather, and smoke. This exceptionally limited collection releases exclusively through The Macallan Client Services in July 2026, sold only as a complete three-bottle set. Given its scarcity and artistic provenance, these bottles could command significant auction prices.
