Romantica Collection Sir Peter Blake The Music Room 40 Year Old

European Oak

About

The Macallan Romantica Collection was created as a tribute to the legendary Macallan 1926, one of the most expensive whiskies ever auctioned. Exactly 100 years after the original cask was filled in 1926, The Macallan released this 40-year-old single malt, matured in the same sherry-seasoned European oak casks that have defined the brand since the 19th century. This is an exceptional release: only 86 bottles per artist edition. Sir Peter Blake, the artist behind the iconic 'Sgt. Pepper's' album cover, designed a collage for 'The Music Room', reflecting Easter Elchies House and the sense of community at The Macallan. The chosen cask (number 9925) was filled in 1986 and lay undisturbed in the warehouses for four decades. What stands out: this Speyside whisky displays an uncommon subtle smokiness for The Macallan—a deliberate choice by Master Distiller Euan Kennedy. On the palate, brown sugar, glazed peach, and lychee emerge, followed by dark cherries and treacle. The finish brings whispers of peat smoke, leather, dried fruits, and cocoa.
