Springbank releases the second official batch in its new Longrow 100° Proof series. This robust single malt from Campbeltown has been matured in refill bourbon casks with a Rioja finish—an approach that reportedly improves upon the first batch's Pinot Noir influence.

Bottled at 57.1% ABV, this expression showcases an intriguing profile true to Longrow's distinctive character. The combination of refill bourbon and Rioja finish balances Campbeltown's traditional identity with modern wine cask influences, avoiding some of the roughness that marked the inaugural release.

On the nose and palate, fruity and spicy notes take centre stage: ripe plums, blackberries, ginger, and black pepper alternate with subtler hints of smoked bacon and herbal complexity. The finish is fairly long and dry, with mineral notes that underscore Campbeltown's coastal heritage.

While young and not entirely balanced, this batch offers a solid entry point for Springbank enthusiasts exploring the Longrow line. A worthy successor in the new series.
