Longrow 23 Year Old Cadenhead's Original Collection Oloroso Hogshead

Longrow 100° Proof Batch #2
About
Longrow takes its name from a neighbouring distillery that closed in 1896 — a lost legacy that Springbank revived in 1973 as its peated counterpart. This Batch #2 in the new 100° Proof series replaces the previous Longrow Red line, experimenting with refill bourbon casks and a Rioja finish — a pairing that outperforms Batch #1's Pinot Noir experiment. Matured for roughly four years in refill bourbon casks, then finished for over 2.5 years in Rioja wood, this young malt balances opposing forces: mustardy sharpness and smoked bacon at the nose, then full-bodied and oily on the palate with earthy peat, almond and subtle red fruit notes. The finish runs long and assertive, drier and more coastal, layering smoked berries, black pepper and mineral bite. Robust and not entirely settled — but far from unpleasant. The Rioja influence feels more integrated than Pinot Noir, sidestepping much of the first batch's roughness. A forthright introduction to Springbank's spectrum.
