In 1876, legend was born when a chestnut colt named Tyrconnell won the prestigious National Produce Stakes against 100-to-1 odds. R.M. Delamere (or Andrew Alexander Watt, depending on the account) celebrated this remarkable victory by creating a whiskey that would become Ireland's best-selling brand before Prohibition halted production. The brand has since been revived by Cooley Distillery and remains a living link to Irish whiskey's golden age.
This single malt follows the traditional Irish path of double distillation, a technique that preserves the character of the barley. Matured in bourbon casks, it develops a fruity-sweet profile with an oily mouthfeel and restrained malt presence.
