John's Lane Release
Powers was founded in 1791 by James Power, an innkeeper in Dublin whose whiskey-making side venture quickly became his main business. The John's Lane Release honours the original distillery of the same name, a storied location in Dublin's heart that operated until 1971 and established Powers' reputation for robust pot still whiskeys.
This 12-year-old single pot still whiskey is produced at the modern Midleton distillery and matured primarily in first fill American bourbon casks, with a small portion finished in Oloroso sherry casks. The result is a whiskey that consciously attempts to recreate the character of the old John's Lane distillery—a deliberate return to the heavy, characterful pot still spirit that once defined the brand.
