Inverurie Whisky Shop marks a decade in business with an exclusive release: the Skene Reserve Burnside 15 Year Old. This limited blended malt from Speyside was bottled by local independent bottler Skene Whisky, with just 70 bottles produced. The release honours the shop's former location at Burnside, Inverurie.

Production and Maturation

Distilled in 2011, this 15-year-old whisky spent three years finishing in a Cognac cask before bottling in 2026. Bottled at 48% ABV in 700 ml format, it delivers considerable depth and character. The whisky is a "teaspooned" blended malt – a technique involving the addition of a teaspoon of one malt to another's cask, used for brand protection purposes.

Tasting Profile

According to whisky expert Charles Maclean, the nose reveals honeycomb, cinder toffee, and soft chocolate notes. The palate is creamy and warming, developing into gently spiced characteristics with an elegant finish – reflecting both the richness of the Cognac cask and the subtle influence of extended maturation.
