This is a special release from Inverurie Whisky Shop celebrating their tenth anniversary. The name Burnside honours their former address in Inverurie, where the business operated for a decade. This is a 'teaspooned' blended malt—a creative workaround in which a teaspoon of another malt is added to the cask, turning a single malt into a blended malt for legal protection. The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon and finished for three years in a Cognac cask. With only 70 bottles produced, this is an exceptionally limited release bottled by Skene Whisky, a local independent bottler. On the nose, honeycomb, cinder toffee, and soft chocolate emerge. The palate is creamy and warming, developing into gently spiced, elegant notes. The three-year Cognac cask finish has added depth and richness without overwhelming the underlying Balvenie character.
