William Lawson's is a blended Scotch whisky brand with roots stretching back to around 1889, when it was created by E&J Burke, a Dublin-based blending and export company established in 1849. Over the decades, the brand changed hands several times before coming under the ownership of Bacardi in 1998, where it remains today as part of the spirits giant's portfolio alongside other whisky expressions managed through John Dewar and Sons. William Lawson's is known as a classic blended Scotch whisky with a sweet, medium-bodied flavour profile, distinguished by its notably high malt content. The brand's current portfolio includes several expressions: the entry-level Finest Blend, the Scottish Gold, and the 13 Year Old. The whiskies used in the blends draw on aged Scotch malts, with expressions such as the 12 Year Old using only whiskies matured for at least 12 years. The Macduff distillery plays a key role in providing malt whisky for the blends. Under Bacardi's stewardship, William Lawson's has grown considerably in global reach and reputation. By 2014, the brand had climbed to become the world's sixth-largest Scotch whisky brand — a remarkable achievement that underscores its widespread international appeal and strong commercial performance.
