Royal Oak Distillery is an Irish whiskey distillery located on a historic 18th-century estate in County Carlow, in Ireland's Ancient East region. It is home to Walsh Whiskey, founded in 1999 by husband and wife Bernard and Rosemary Walsh. The state-of-the-art distillery was officially opened in 2016, bringing production in-house after years of sourcing whiskey from an undisclosed distillery elsewhere in Ireland. Royal Oak Distillery is one of the few Irish whiskey producers capable of distilling all three traditional styles of Irish whiskey: Single Grain, Single Malt, and Single Pot Still. The distillery is perhaps best known as the home of The Busker Irish Whiskey, a range that showcases each of these distinct styles. The Walsh Whiskey portfolio also includes The Irishman and Writers' Tears, both celebrated expressions that reflect the heritage and craftsmanship of the Royal Oak estate. Since opening, Royal Oak Distillery has earned a strong reputation within the rapidly growing Irish whiskey category. By combining a heritage setting with modern distilling technology, the distillery balances tradition and innovation — a philosophy that continues to define the Walsh Whiskey brand on the world stage.
