The Glen Scotia Double Cask is a notable expression from one of the few remaining distilleries in Campbeltown, a region renowned for its rich whisky heritage. Following its acquisition by Exponent Private Equity in 2014, substantial investments were made in both the distillery and its whiskies, resulting in the introduction of the Double Cask in 2015. Initially matured in traditional barrels, this whisky is then finished in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, providing a harmonious balance of spice, fruit notes, and the distinctive Campbeltown character. On the nose, it greets you with aromas of crème caramel, toffee, apple, and a hint of sea spray. The palate is rich with spicy fruit notes, complemented by toffee and fudge, offering a delightful tasting experience. The finish is gentle with vanilla oak and a subtle spice. This whisky is perfect for savoring after dinner or pairing with cheeses and dried fruits for an enhanced tasting experience.
