Claxton's is an independent bottler founded in 2011 by Adrian and Jack Hoose, operating from the Dalswinton Estate in Scotland. The Exploration Series sits at the heart of their mission: single-cask releases balancing quality with accessibility, designed to encourage drinkers to explore Scotland's whisky regions. This 9-year-old Islay Single Malt is bottled at 50% ABV without chill-filtration or added colour—an approach that preserves the natural character of the cask. Claxton's curates each barrel carefully, ranging from Bourbon Barrels to Sherry Hogsheads and Port Casks, to showcase diverse flavour profiles across the range. On the nose, this Islay reveals layered fruit with citrus and vanilla notes. The palate develops a full, sweet character with hints of orange and raisins, followed by warmer notes of coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is rich and warming, with a pleasant alcohol heat that underscores the cask's complexity.
