Himmelberg
In 1999, Switzerland lifted its ban on grain distillation, and Karl Locher of Brauerei Locher seized the moment to create the country's first single malt whisky. Säntis Malt was born from that ambition. The Himmelberg is a core expression in this pioneering range, named after a German mountain region whose etymology means 'heaven's hill'.
What sets Himmelberg apart is its unusual maturation strategy: old beer casks (Säntis's signature) combined with various wine vessels—port, sherry, and Merlot. This hybrid cask regime shapes its distinctive character.
