About
Craigellachie has charted its own course since 1891. Founded by Alexander Edward—the man who also built the Craigellachie Hotel—the distillery still employs worm tub condensers, a rare choice that shapes the spirit's character. This 13-year-old single malt resists the smooth Speyside template: robust, muscular, uncompromising. Baked apples and vanilla lead the nose, giving way to an oily, caramel-rich palate threaded with nutmeg and red fruit. The sweetness carries weight and texture, anchored by salt and five-spice notes that coat the mouth. The finish stretches long and complex, refusing to settle into a single note. This is not an easy Speyside. It demands attention and rewards it with something rare: a whisky that feels like an artifact from another era—not because it is old, but because it is made differently.
