Project XX emerged from a distinctive collaboration: twenty Glenfiddich ambassadors each selected six casks from the distillery, ultimately narrowing to twenty casks that were blended by Malt Master Brian Kinsman. The name refers to this number—not age, a common source of confusion. The result combines ex-bourbon casks, port pipes, and sherry butts, with whisky aged between eight and twenty years. The nose reveals ripe Golden Delicious apples, dark stone fruits, and spice, with hints of fresh flowers and a light saltiness. On the palate, sherry notes emerge alongside dark chocolate, dried fruit, and coffee grounds, supported by cinnamon, nutmeg, and oak spice. The finish is medium-length, with persistent oak and spice. This is a whisky that rewards patience in the glass—complexity unfolds as it opens. For those seeking something beyond standard Speyside expressions.
