Teacher's was founded in 1830 by William Teacher, a Glasgow grocer who turned whisky merchant. The brand name comes directly from its founder. What sets Teacher's apart from most blended Scotch whiskies is its unusually high malt content of 45% – well above the typical blend. At its core sits Ardmore, a Highland distillery producing peated malt, which gives Teacher's its characteristic smoky, full-bodied character.
That high malt percentage combined with Ardmore's peated backbone produces a blend richer and more textured than many of its peers. Vanilla and toffee provide sweetness, while a subtle smoke and peat edge runs through the finish.
