It's an unconventional choice by the independent bottler: after 13 years in a refill bourbon hogshead, the spirit was finished in American and European oak casks previously used for Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez — a pairing that sharpens Ben Nevis' natural fruitiness and mineral character.

At 48.9% ABV, this cask delivers a full, oily texture with dark fruit, cocoa, and roasted nuts. The nose reveals red fruit sweetness with a salty, coastal air and oak spice. On the palate, olive oil-like malt and tropical fruit mingle with pepper and that distinctive Ben Nevis mineral funk — a flinty edge that sets the distillery apart.
