About
Glenglassaugh, perched on Scotland's northern Highland coast overlooking the North Sea, reopened in 2008 after decades of dormancy. The Port Wood Finish is part of the distillery's relatively new Wood Finish series—a collection exploring four distinct finishing styles. This expression was carefully curated by Billy Walker, who selected a limited number of port casks for the whisky's secondary maturation period. The whisky's character emerges from the interplay of Highland malt and the rich, fruity influence of port cask finishing. It presents a handsome copper hue, followed by aromas of toffee, brown sugar, and wild berries with a whisper of mint. On the palate, the whisky arrives creamy and lively, with grapefruit and blood orange pushing forward. Vanilla and caramel emerge mid-sip, joined by light oak and a dry, slightly funky edge. The finish is short but satisfying, with sweetness holding the final note.
