About

Founded in 1810 by brothers Alexander and Donald Johnston, Laphroaig carries the heritage of Islay's peat-fired tradition. This PX Cask is a travel retail exclusive, triple-matured first in ex-bourbon barrels, then quarter casks, and finally Pedro Ximénez sherry butts—a staged maturation that layers sweetness and complexity without softening the distillery's signature smoke. The whisky draws its character from Islay's south coast: heavily peated barley, sea-spray minerality, and turfbog richness. The PX finish adds dried fruit and spice depth, but never overwhelms the peat. The nose opens with dried fruit, cherry, and red berries beneath a smoky veil. The palate brings peppery spice and salt alongside burnt oak and sherry warmth. The finish is dry and smoky, lingering with salt and char. This is Laphroaig uncompromised—peat and sherry in equal conversation, not a softened version of the distillery's core identity.
