About
Distilleerderij Rutte, established in Dordrecht in 1872, introduces the Single Malt Genever as a Dutch counterpart to Scotch single malt. Master distiller Myriam Hendrickx — eighth generation at the distillery — crafted this recipe: 100% malt wine, distilled entirely from barley, combined with juniper, iris root and coriander. The malt wine matured for four years in new American oak casks, shaping its character. This is not a traditional genever heavy with spice, but a grain-driven spirit that shares more kinship with single malt whisky than classic genever. On the nose, toasted grain and soft juniper emerge first, followed by subtle spice and light citrus. The palate is malt-forward: cereal-driven, with hints of chocolate, toast and caramel. The finish carries spice and an underlying genever signature.
