About

Glen Scotia was established in 1832 by James Stewart and John Galbraith as Scotia Distillery, when Campbeltown stood as the world's whisky capital. This Double Cask serves as an accessible entry point to the distillery's core range, where two distinct cask types converge. The whisky matures first in first-fill bourbon casks, then finishes for twelve months in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. This pairing—70% ex-bourbon with 30% ex-PX—delivers the dram's characteristic balance between American oak tannins and the rich, sweet influence of Spanish sherry. In the glass, a vibrant gold hue. The nose opens with toffee, vanilla, and baking spices, touched by citrus and dried fruit that betray the PX influence. On the palate, toffee and honey dominate, supported by spices such as black pepper and nutmeg, while oak and a bright lemon note provide structure. The finish is warm and spiced, with pleasing persistence.
