Bruichladdich
Islay Barley 2011

About
Bruichladdich's Organic line began in 2003 as a deliberate commitment: malt from certified organic barley, with no chemical additives or artificial intervention. The Organic 2010 honours this principle — spirit distilled in 2010, matured in ex-bourbon casks, and bottled without chill filtration or added colour. The result is an unfiltered, full-strength 50% ABV whisky that lets the grain and wood speak plainly. The nose reveals fresh malt, citrus fruit, and a subtle floral note — no smoke, but that distinctive Islay mineral and salt signature. On the palate, sweet and fruity impressions burst through: butterscotch, lemon curd, tropical fruit, and a hint of toasted marshmallow. The finish is oily and full-bodied, with a pleasing balance of fruit and salt that underscores its unfiltered character. This is a whisky that makes no apologies — no refinement through artifice, just honest flavour from organic grain and straightforward wood.
