About
The Balvenie Golden Cask 12 stands apart from the distillery's core range — not the familiar DoubleWood, but an unconventional experiment in cask finishing. This 12-year-old single malt matured in ex-bourbon casks before a secondary maturation in vessels seasoned with a bespoke rum blend, chosen for their golden, caramel-rich character. The result is a hybrid whisky: bright, sunny Speyside fruit meets the sweet, tropical influence of the rum finish. The nose opens with banana, vanilla, and pecan notes, layered with toffee. On the palate, tropical fruit, vanilla cream, oak spice, and gentle rum sweetness unfold in succession — pineapple and soft citrus give the whole a light, almost summery quality. The finish is silky, rich with toffee and traces of dried fruit and cinnamon.
