Castaway takes Ledaig's unmistakable island character into altogether unexpected territory. For the first time, the distillery combines Caribbean rum casks and Mexican tequila casks—a rare partnership that reads like an adventure in a bottle. The signature peated character remains the backbone, but tropical sweetness and spicy agave notes add an exotic tension that shouldn't work, yet absolutely does. Bottled at full cask strength (61.1% ABV) without chill-filtration, this limited edition comprises 6,428 bottles. The nose reveals coastal smoke and grilled tropical fruit; the palate unfolds grilled pineapple, mango, and citrus alongside agave hints and salted vanilla. The finish is warm and peppery, with lingering peat and maritime brine. This is no gimmick—the balance between smoke, sweetness, and spice genuinely works. For those who love Ledaig's signature peat but are willing to venture into unfamiliar cask territory.
