About
Tenjaku is a Japanese blended whisky produced in Fuefuki, Yamanashi Prefecture, by Minami Alps Wine and Beverage Co. Ltd. The name references the Hibari, a lark from Japanese folklore believed to herald new seasons—a fitting emblem for a brand celebrating local environment and artisanal craft. This 2024 expression is matured in ex-bourbon casks, blending a grain-forward recipe (86% corn, 14% barley) with traditional Japanese distilling methods. The result is a clean, delicate profile that sidesteps the heavier character of many Scotch blends. On the nose, soft grain and dried fruit emerge, with hints of pear and caramel. The palate is rounded and sweet, revealing vanilla, toasted oak, and subtle nutty notes. The finish is dry and refined, with a whisper of smoke that maintains the whisky's overall balance.
