Douglas Laing & Co. marks Fèis Ìle's 40th Anniversary with a bespoke Big Peat release distinguished by a mosaic label created from submitted images of Big Peat fans worldwide. Each face contributes to the unmistakable portrait of the bearded Islay character – a fitting metaphor for how every dram plays a part in the blend, just as every supporter shapes Big Peat's story. This blended malt draws single malts from several renowned Islay distilleries and is finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The finishing period adds rich sherry depth and refinement while honouring Big Peat's signature smoky foundation. The nose delivers immediate intensity: feisty sweet smoke layered with peat – quintessential Islay. The palate is thick and oily, revealing dried figs and dates, freshly roasted coffee, toasted walnuts and cocoa. The finish lingers long and velvety, with peat smoke remaining powerful yet beautifully balanced by sherry-led sweetness and warmth.
