Bourbon Barrel

About

Town Branch Distillery, the 7th member of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail®, releases its long-awaited wheated bourbon after years of careful strategy. The distillery's name honors Town Branch, the waterway that runs beneath Lexington and upon which the city was founded—a tribute to the region's bourbon heritage stretching back to America's earliest distilling days. This 6-year expression is the fruit of deliberate patience. Head Distiller Dave Bob Gaspar recognized the whiskey as 'a sweet spot' at six years old, yet the team chose to wait longer, building a fuller range of ages before committing to a standalone wheated release. Prior to this debut, Town Branch introduced the wheated mash bill through blended expressions and barrel-tasting experiences, giving consumers and visitors an early preview. Bottled at 99 proof without chill-filtering and aged in new American oak with #4 char, this bourbon shows the soft, grain-forward character the category is known for. The nose opens with honey, apricot, and candied fruit, followed by a palate of butterscotch, biscuit, and baked apple. The finish is warm and lingering, with caramel and tobacco notes that fade gradually.
