About
Macleay Duff was established in Glasgow in 1863 as a blending firm and became a significant player in the Scottish whisky industry. Acquired by Distillers Company Ltd in 1933, it retained its identity as a producer of characterful blends. The Special Matured Cream is a classic expression from the mid-twentieth century, when such blends were sought after by consumers looking for accessible, well-matured Scotch whisky. This blend incorporates malt whiskies from across Scotland, including spirit from the legendary Millburn distillery, of which Macleay Duff was licensee until its closure in 1985. The combination of grain and malt whiskies was carefully selected and matured to deliver a balanced, approachable dram. On the nose, the blend reveals caramel and honey with subtle cereal notes. The palate shows sweetness with toffee and vanilla, punctuated by pepper and dried spices that keep the flavour interesting. The finish is warm and pleasant, with a light woody undertone that reflects its maturation.
