This 1992 Caperdonich is part of the Tony Koehl Series from Creative Whisky Company, named after the artist who designed the labels. The series marks one of the first releases from David Stirk's independent bottler and demonstrates that Caperdonich — originally built as an expansion of Glen Grant — possessed far more character than its understated history suggested. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, this 20-year-old delivers an oily, creamy mouthfeel. The nose reveals honey and fresh apple, with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. On the palate, grapefruit and more honey emerge, joined by white pepper and a subtle spice that runs through the spirit. The finish is slow and intense — black pepper dominates, with underlying notes of oak and forest floor. This is a layered, complex whisky that rewards patience and careful attention.
