RAISIN SUN is the fourth release from Barrel Beast's acclaimed Unleashed Octave Series, the Hannover-based independent bottler established in 2020 for uncompromising quality. This strictly limited edition comprises just 99 bottles of 500 ml, each drawn from Inchgower and distilled in 2016. The whisky matured for eight years in a First Fill Pedro Ximénez Octave—a rare small cask of around 50 litres that maximises wood contact and flavour development. Bottled at cask strength (55.3% ABV) with natural colour and no chill filtration, maintaining Barrel Beast's standard. On the nose, fresh mint melds with rich, spicy raisin aromas and delicate floral notes over warm, toasty wheat. The palate brings rustic bread, bright citrus zest, and smooth cocoa notes, with luscious cherry and a slightly medicinal edge. The finish is medium-long to long, with sweet plum compote, dark rye bread, a hint of spicy ginger, and buttery caramel.
