The Balvenie The Dawn of Our Spirit Five Rare Crafts Collection

The Dawn of Our Spirit Five Rare Crafts Collection

About

The Balvenie and American artist Daniel Arsham have created 'The Dawn of Our Spirit', a groundbreaking collection where traditional Scottish whisky craftsmanship meets contemporary art. Arsham, internationally recognized for his futuristic 'eroded' sculptural style, collaborated closely with Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie to develop five editions, each celebrating one of The Balvenie's Five Rare Crafts: barley, coopering, floor malting, copper stills, and the malt master's expertise. The collection showcases what sets The Balvenie apart among Scottish single malts: the distillery grows its own barley, maintains in-house coopers and coppersmiths, and continues to operate its historic Home Floor Maltings, brought into use around 1931 and virtually unchanged since. These traditions lie at the heart of the project. Arsham was drawn precisely to this commitment to handcrafted whisky-making—a shared reverence for time, process, and craft. Each bottle is a work of art in itself, visually interpreted by Arsham and bottled at 47.5% ABV. This represents The Balvenie's most ambitious collaboration to date, complemented by exclusive experiential events in Asia and the United States celebrating craftsmanship and creativity.
