About
Croftengea is the house style of Loch Lomond Distillery, a Highland distillery established in 1814 on the shores of Loch Lomond. This 9-year-old expression showcases what the distillery does best: a punchy, smoky single malt that doesn't shy away from character. The spirit is heavily peated, evident from the first nosing. The nose opens with smoke and charcoal, underpinned by fatty, roasted notes—game meats cooked over hot coals. The palate is dense and mouth-coating, with earthy charcoal and coffee grounds set against sweeter touches of raisins, blackcurrant, and redcurrant. Citrus candy and peat smoke run through the middle. The finish is warm and persistent, the smokiness holding firm. This is a whisky for those unafraid of smoke and depth. Not refined, but honest and full-bodied.
