About

Bowmore has undergone a striking transformation in recent years. After a long period of violet-tinged production and mediocre wine finishes, a new house style emerged: a spirit full of fruit, even tropical fruit. This Bowmore 2005 from The Whisky Jury exemplifies that renewed direction. Distilled in January 2005 and bottled in February 2026, this 21-year-old cask (#250906) yields 224 bottles. At 52.8% ABV, it delivers a full, oily structure with classic Bowmore character. The nose reveals bright, aromatic fruit: crisp apple, pineapple, hints of kiwi and unripe peach. After fifteen minutes, tropical fruits emerge in force, mingling with soft smoke and sea spray. A whisper of lemon verbena and lemon cream cheese rounds out the picture. The palate opens mineral and austere—stone dust, herbal, white pepper, leafy—but then pineapple and passion fruit burst through. Lime and guava follow, with a zesty grapefruit bitterness that works beautifully here. The finish is long, balancing mild fruity sweetness with mineral notes, citrus zest and a touch of pepper.
