Islay Single Malt
About
Kilchoman is the only independent farm distillery on Islay, established in 2005 by Anthony Wills on the island's west coast. The name derives from the ruins of an old church at picturesque Machir Bay. This is a distillery with a distinctive approach: roughly 25% of its barley is grown on-site, and production blends two malt styles—a medium-peated spirit made in-house with heavier peated malt sourced from Port Ellen. This Islay Single Malt reflects that philosophy: a balance between farmhouse craft and classic Islay character. At 50.60% ABV, the whisky delivers full flavour without dilution. The nose opens with smoky peat, followed by sweet notes of honey and vanilla, with citrus accents. On the palate, peat leads but is tempered by sweetness—red wine, black pepper, and hints of chocolate. The finish is warm and lingering, with sustained peat and a subtle prickle.
