About

Agot is a young Basque whisky project built on a philosophy of clarity — inspired by Spanish and Basque cuisine, the makers sought to coax identifiable flavours from their grain and cask treatment. This PX Edition matured in ex-bourbon and Rioja Alavesa casks before finishing in Pedro Ximénez — the ancient sweet fortified wine of Spanish tradition. The marriage of young spirit and rich sherry finish creates an intriguing tension: the nose opens with herbs (sage, eucalyptus, tarragon) and fresh oak, then shifts toward fruit and almond. The palate brings sourdough bread and delicate pepper alongside vanilla custard and orange boiled sweets — a creamy texture that carries weight. The finish is medium-short, leaving a pleasant dryness in its wake. This is not a classical Scotch single malt, but rather an idiosyncratic Basque statement: youthful, lively, and full of unexpected turns.
