About
John Crabbie & Co. is rooted in Scottish whisky history. In 1801, John Crabbie established his distillery in Leith, Edinburgh, where he worked as distiller, blender, and bottler. He was also co-founder of the prestigious North British grain distillery, still operating in Edinburgh today. The Crabbie family built their enterprise around Leith's port, leveraging access to ginger and other ingredients that made their ginger wine famous. This Peated expression reflects the brand's revival of its legacy. It is an approachable peated whisky at 40% ABV, where smoke is present but restrained—noticeable without overwhelming. The whisky delivers creamy vanilla and toffee, with a distinct smoky undertone that adds character rather than dominance. On the nose, dried fruit, vanilla, and a hint of peppery smoke emerge. The palate brings sweet berries and cream, caramel toffee, and dried fruit. The finish closes with a subtle peppery peat note, warm and lingering.
