About
Berry Bros & Rudd's 2010 vintage is a mature expression of Islay character: fifteen years of age, finished in Oloroso casks to add depth and richness to Caol Ila's natural smoke and maritime edge. The result is a robust, full-bodied dram that refuses to whisper. The nose reveals sweet wood smoke layered with licorice, citrus, and dried stone fruit. On the palate, it becomes darker and more intense — thick sooty notes, burnt chocolate, and barbecue ash dominate, tempered by vanilla, toffee, and hazelnut. Black pepper crackles through. The finish is long and warming, with persistent peat and sweet oak. This is an uncompromising Caol Ila: earthy, leafy, and slightly wild in character. A dram for those who seek weight and smoke over refinement, and who appreciate what a sherry finish can add to an already complex spirit.
