Kilchoman was founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills on Islay's west coast, after two decades in the drinks industry—first in wine, then as an independent whisky bottler. With this 20th Anniversary Cask Series, the distillery marks twenty years of 'barley to bottle' production. The selected casks were hand-picked by Wills himself and represent, in his words, a testament to his team's skill, dedication, and perseverance. This 14-year-old bourbon cask maturation marries five individual casks (numbered 403, 422, 498, 750, and 800) from the 2010 vintage. At 51.2% ABV and non-chill-filtered, the whisky retains its full character. On the nose, maritime salt and lime emerge first, shifting through farmyard and iodine to wet beach and salted crackers. The palate brings honey and citrus warmth against the bourbon wood, balanced by peat smoke that runs through the entire profile. The finish is dry and lingering, with sustained peat and a briny aftertaste.
