BenRiach was established in 1898 by John Duff, a serial entrepreneur in Scottish whisky who brought experience from his work at Longmorn. The Smoky Ten is part of BenRiach's core range: a 10-year-old single malt blending peated and unpeated spirit, each aged for at least a decade. The whisky is crafted from three cask types: ex-bourbon barrels, Jamaican rum casks, and virgin oak. This combination delivers The Smoky Ten's defining character—smoke and fruit in conversation, neither overwhelming the other. On the nose, roasted honey, toasted coconut, and hints of greengage emerge. The palate brings cinnamon and ginger, followed by dry smoke that gradually gives way to maple syrup and peach. The finish is crisp and lingering, with oak-driven smoke that extends the experience.
