About
Hazelburn takes its name from a historic Campbeltown distillery that operated until 1925. The brand was established in 1997 at Springbank Distillery, where it continues to be produced today. What sets it apart is triple distillation—a rare practice in Scottish whisky—which creates an exceptionally light, pure spirit despite the rich cask maturation. This 8-year-old expression matures in a combination of ex-bourbon and oloroso sherry casks, striking an intriguing balance between vanilla and wood against sherried fruit. The triple distillation yields a delicate, almost ethereal mouthfeel that contrasts with the full flavour profiles you'd expect from the cask regime. The nose reveals honey, orange, and cereal with hints of nuts and salt. On the palate, vanilla and wood sugar emerge first, followed by bittersweet sherry and a whisper of pepper. The finish is dry and spiced, with a lingering malty backbone.
