Each-uisge is a 13-year-old single malt from Caol Ila, a distillery established in 1846 near Port Askaig on Islay. The name Caol Ila translates to 'Sound of Islay' in Gaelic, reflecting its position overlooking the strait between Islay and Jura. For much of its history, Caol Ila supplied whisky for blends, but in recent decades has emerged as a distinctive Islay producer in its own right. This 13-year expression has matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, Caol Ila's standard cask choice. At 48.4% ABV, it delivers a full, oily mouthfeel without excessive oak dominance. The nose presents smoke and earth, layered with citrus and a saline edge. On the palate, the distillery's signature oiliness emerges alongside grassy notes, smoke, and citrus peel. The finish is dry and assertive, with lingering smoke and a mineral, briny character that captures the coastal essence of the distillery.
