Annandale Distillery, established in 1836 by George Donald, stands as one of Scotland's earliest legal distilleries. After decades of closure, it reopened in 2014 under the direction of Professor David Thomson, a Dumfries-born sensory scientist. The Portfolio Special Release reflects the distillery's commitment to unfiltered, naturally coloured single cask whisky bottled at cask strength. This release is part of Annandale's exclusive cask programme, which allows collectors and connoisseurs to acquire individual casks. Each cask brings its own character, shaped by wood type and previous use. On the nose, fruity notes emerge—green apple, pear, and strawberry—complemented by spicy undertones. The palate reveals a full, velvety texture with sweet notes, hints of marshmallow and white pepper, interwoven with subtle oak and nutty influences. The finish is warm and persistent, balancing sweetness with spice.
