About

Faultline is K&L Wine Merchants' signature bourbon, returning at the moment of K&L's 50th anniversary. This is no casual release—the brand was revived because the right barrels presented themselves: 10 and 8-year-old bourbons with high rye content (75/21/4 and 60/36/4 mash bills) that together strike a rare balance of sweet and spice. K&L's team tasted through ten casks, selected two exceptional single-barrel candidates, and meticulously blended the rest until they nailed the 100 proof profile. The nose reveals warm clove, cinnamon, spent coffee grounds, and chocolate-covered orange peel—an invitation that delivers. On the palate come marmalade, peanut butter, and Mexican hot chocolate, with a whisper of extracted roots hinting at aromatic bitters. This is bourbon built for an Old Fashioned, though it stands just as well alone. The finish is long and richly spicy, almost demanding you reach back in. At $40, it's a steal—a bourbon that tastes like something from Kentucky, but chosen and blended with California precision.
