About
Drambuie is a golden liqueur with roots reaching back to the 18th century. Legend has it that Bonnie Prince Charlie gave the recipe to Captain John MacKinnon of Clan MacKinnon as thanks for sanctuary on the Isle of Skye. The name derives from Scots Gaelic 'An Dram Buidheach', meaning 'The Drink that Satisfies'. The brand was formally trademarked in 1893. The liqueur is made from Scotch whisky, Scottish heather honey, and a secret blend of herbs and spices. This distinctive recipe creates a characteristic flavour profile: soft and full-bodied, with pronounced honey notes complemented by anise, orange peel, and spices such as clove. The finish is sweet and spiced, with a pleasant warmth. Drambuie is versatile: drink it neat over ice, use it in classic cocktails like the Rusty Nail (with Scotch whisky), or add it to coffee. At 40% ABV, it remains approachable without sacrificing complexity.
