Chattanooga Whiskey was founded in 2011 by Tennessee native Tim Piersant with a mission to bring whiskey back to the people. This Bottled-in-Bond 2022 vintage proves the ambition worked. The distillery had to change Tennessee law just to distill whiskey in Chattanooga — a fight they won. This 4-year bourbon was distilled and barreled within a single season (spring 2022), under the strict Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, guaranteeing full transparency and quality assurance. The recipe was developed in 2017 and first released as an experimental single barrel in 2021 before being scaled to this vintage. Chattanooga works in a Tennessee High Malt Style — a blend of different mash bills that together create something larger than the sum of their parts. In the glass, this bourbon first shows what passes for straightforward: vanilla, caramel, and honeyed florals. Then the layers emerge: cherry danish, crème caramel, orange blossom, and black tea. The finish stays clean and woody, without artifice. This is whiskey that says what it is and does what it says.
