Port CaskBourbon Barrel

About

Ardmore was founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher, son of Glasgow blender William Teacher, who decided his family's whisky business needed its own distillery. Located in Kennethmont at the edge of the Grampian Mountains, the name means 'big headland' in Gaelic. This 12-year-old Highland single malt carries a gentle peat character — around 50% of Ardmore's annual production uses barley peated to 12–14 ppm — giving it a depth and complexity that sets it apart from many unpeated Highlands. Matured in American bourbon barrels and European port pipes, the whisky balances sweet and fruity notes with restrained smoke. The dual-cask approach brings richness and layering that belies its approachable style. On the nose, golden honey and light fruit emerge alongside subtle peat smoke. The palate unfolds with sweet honey and spice, the peat arriving gently rather than aggressively. The finish is dry and lingering, with dry wood smoke and pleasant oak tannins that keep the dram engaging without overpowering.
