About

Aberlour was founded in 1879 by James Fleming, a grain merchant from the area, at the confluence of the Lour Burn and River Spey. This 10-year-old Speyside single malt is the result of double-cask maturation: ex-bourbon barrels and ex-sherry butts work together to build a full, layered whisky. The nose opens with toffee, dark chocolate, and orange, followed by hints of raisins and nutty notes. On the palate, a soft arrival brings honey, vanilla, and apple, complemented by fruity and spicy accents. The texture is fuller than you might expect from a whisky at this age. The finish is dry and clean, with lingering notes of malt and oak. This is an approachable yet unshallow Speyside—young enough to be fresh and lively, but mature enough to show the complexity of dual-cask maturation.
