About
Benromach is one of only two mainland Speyside distilleries using peated malt for its entire production, giving this 11-year-old single cask an unexpected smoky character for the region. Founded in 1898 and now run by Gordon & MacPhail—a business established in 1895 as a grocer before becoming renowned for maturing some of the world's oldest and rarest single malts—Benromach brings Speyside's classic fruit-forward profile with a subtle peated edge. Matured in a combination of first-fill sherry and bourbon casks, this cask-strength release (60.5% ABV) delivers full flavour intensity without dilution. The oily mouthfeel and pronounced sherry influence are hallmarks of Benromach's house style. The nose reveals stewed fruit, citrus zest, and hints of nutmeg. The palate is full and meaty, with black pepper, smoked bacon, and polished leather, anchored by a malty core of oatmeal and sourdough. The finish is warm and persistent, with dried fruit notes and a gentle smoky fade.
