An exclusive Milroy's of Soho selection: this 11-year-old Arran was distilled in 2013 and matured for eleven years in ex-sherry butt #1728. It is one of three identically aged Arrans the London specialist sourced as a trio — each matured in a different cask (bourbon, sherry, and peated) — allowing direct comparison of wood's influence. Only 310 bottles produced. At 59.6% ABV, this is a full, assertive expression. Arran's signature fruity and malty character is here enriched by rich sherry notes and dark oak tannins. The nose shows apple, pear, and citrus zest, supported by vanilla and honey. On the palate it is more powerful and peppery than one might expect — the high alcohol delivers bite without leaving the mouth dry. This is a whisky for those who want to taste the purity of a single cask and see how a large sherry butt transforms an island malt.
